The Local Governing Body provides strategic leadership and independent oversight for DISC. Its role is to secure high-quality education and positive destinations for interns, and to ensure the college remains safe, inclusive and effective.

What Governors Do
- Set the vision, ethos and strategic direction for the college and align this with DISC’s curriculum intent and industry-led provision.
- Hold the Head of College to account for educational performance, safeguarding, quality of education and the experience of interns, including
scrutiny of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). - Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including safeguarding guidance and Ofsted regulation.
- Monitor key data such as attendance, progress, attainment and destinations to drive improvement and celebrate success.
- Champion a safe, accessible and welcoming learning environment and the wellbeing of interns and staff.
- Formal governing body meetings take place at least once each term and are chaired by the Chair of Governors. Action-focused minutes are recorded by the Clerk to capture decisions, track actions and evidence impact.
- Learning walks and governor visits take place across the year to deepen understanding of the curriculum, quality of education, safeguarding and more.
- Each governor has a defined focus area. A named college point of contact is aligned to each focus area so that governors can review evidence, test impact and agree next steps. Each governor produces an annual written report on their focus area, with key findings noted at a Local Governing Body meeting to inform ongoing improvement.
- The Local Governing Body reports to the Digital Advantage Board of Trustees. Assurance, risks and recommendations are escalated through agreed reporting routes.
