Level Up: DISC’s Insider Guide to Manchester’s Booming Gaming Scene

The past month, DISC were involved with four impactful events offering invaluable insights into technology, creativity and cybersecurity. These events weren’t just about interesting tech and creativity — they were about unlocking doors to new opportunities and expanding horizons for our students.
North West Tech Insite Day:

The immersion into the tech realm alongside Siemens, BA, and GCHQ provided our interns with firsthand exposure to cutting-edge technology. They explored Siemens’ new programmable logic controllers, and one of our interns was invited for a follow-up visit! The networking avenues and the AI workshop were particularly beneficial for aspiring tech enthusiasts.
Cyber Choices:
This interactive cybersecurity exercise from GMP offered our interns and staff a hands-on experience in tackling online security challenges. From phishing to data security, teams engaged in an escape room task that enhanced their understanding of cybersecurity essentials. By simulating real-world scenarios, participants not only honed their skills in identifying vulnerabilities but also fostered a culture of proactive vigilance in safeguarding sensitive information.
Native Creatives Event:
Hosted by UA92, this event shone a spotlight on Greater Manchester’s Creative, Digital, and Media industries. It was a treasure trove of insights for our interns, offering a glimpse into day-to-day agency life, career advice, and various educational pathways. The event catered directly to the interests of our intern community and numerous meaningful connections and invaluable networking opportunities within Greater Manchester’s vibrant Creative, Digital, and Media sectors were made.
AI Workshop:

James Akrigg’s workshop expanded our interns’ perspectives on AI, showcasing its current uses and future potential in digital media. It was a thought-provoking session that ignited curiosity and sparked discussions and a newfound enthusiasm for exploring AI’s possibilities among interns.
These events were not just informative sessions; they were catalysts for personal and academic growth. They allowed our interns to explore potential career paths, gain practical insights, and forge connections within their fields of interest. They provided a platform for networking, learning, and discovering passions for their potential futures.
